InterVideo Demonstrates Software Stabilization Algorithm and MPEG-4 Multimedia Solutions at PMA Print E-mail

PMA 2005 - ORLANDO, Fla. Feb. 20, 2005 InterVideo(R), Inc. (Nasdaq:IVII), a pioneer in advancing DVD and MPEG-multimedia software technology, is demonstrating its MPEG-4 multimedia solutions running on the latest high-performance digital media processing technology from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) in the TI technology suites at the Photo Marketing Association (PMA) International Convention and Trade Show, which is being held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, February 20-23, 2005.

According to the Photo Marketing Association and NPD Research Group, four megapixel and five megapixel camera sales rose 8 percent and 7 percent respectively in the first three quarters of 2004, compared to 2003. However, their average selling prices dropped from $469 to $338 and $550 to $410, respectively. As the margin has quickly decreased, it has become crucial for digital camera makers to provide more value-added features in their products.

Although digital cameras have offered video capabilities for several years, the quality of the video has been behind that of traditional digital camcorders. The hardware image stabilization mechanism in the traditional digital camcorders allows consumers to record extended video clips at ease. By implementing InterVideo's stabilization algorithm, digital still camera ODMs and system integrators can now offer their name brand clients with an unprecedented video recording feature at a strong cost advantage.

InterVideo will demonstrate the MPEG-4 streaming video capture and stabilizer on the latest TI digital media processing platform and the industry's latest four megapixel CCD equipped with true VGA video output. In addition, InterVideo will showcase a live demo with Cute Mobile's xcute DV1 phone that is also based on TI's digital signal processing core during the show. InterVideo MPEG-4 codecs enable the three megapixel, 4x optical zoom camera phone to record VGA video clips in real time (30 frames per second).

Other than highly integrated multimedia solutions with TI's digital media processing and OMAP platforms, InterVideo also provides individual codecs for applications such as set top boxes, personal video recorders, personal digital assistants, and digital audio/media broadcast receivers.
